In this series I use a still life of recognizable objects to determine the composition. I like to zoom in on the objects to divide the picture plane into intriguing shapes. I then use charcoal, watercolor, acrylics and/or pastels to add a base or background color. Then the fun begins—I search among my collection of art fodder to find items that I can layer over areas to add texture, interest, or color. Some areas become flattened shapes others become texturally dimensional. It is amazing the variety of materials that can be collaged in this way.
